Lac Hong University to work with Consulate General of Korea in Ho Chi Minh City

In the afternoon of November 29, in Ho Chi Minh city, Meritorious Teacher. Dr.  Do Huu Tai – Rector of Lac Hong University had a working session with Mr. Yoo Kwang Yol - Consul General of Korea, Ms. Hyewon Chung – Director of KOICA (Korea International Cooperation Agency) in Viet Nam, Mr. Soon Park – Secretary General of Korean Publisher and representatives of Korean Television. Together with him, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Thi Thu Luong – Dean of Faculty of Oriental Studies was present at the event.

At the working session, Mr. Yoo Kwang Yol said the project to present books to universities that offer students Korean language and culture was launched from 1990. The project shows Korean government’s sentiments and interest to Korean language training units. Up to now, the program has presented 600 000 books to schools. Lac Hong is next target of the project among more than 40 universities that train Korean language in the world.
 
On behalf of the university, Dr. Do Huu Tai thanked the Consul General of Korea, Korean Publisher, KOICA, and Korean Television for their interest and enthusiastic support given to Lac Hong University. The project to present Korean books has provided great support for teaching and learning of the university.  He also expressed his hope to strengthen the close relation between the two sides to promote the development of Korean Studies.
 
Also at the working session, KOICA’s Director Hyewon Chung expressed her happiness when Korean’s organizations present books to Lac Hong’s Korean Studies and said from 2009 to now, the KOICA organization has sent volunteers to Lac Hong University to support its Korean language teaching for three times. Earlier, the organization funded the university a Korean resources room worth USD 17, 000 including books, computers, and some teaching tools. The cooperation of Korean Publisher and Korean Television has greatly contributed to volunteers’ Korean teaching of KOICA at Lac Hong University.
