In the evening of April 9, 2012 forty Lao students studying at Lac Hong University and other schools in Dong Nai province gathered at Du Long restaurant at Buu Long Tourism Area, Bien Hoa city to celebrate their traditional New Year Bunpimay Festival organized by Dong Nai provincial Department of Propaganda and Training in cooperation with Lac Hong University and Tin Nghia Corporation.
Also at the event, Lao students offered attendees their best traditional dance, Lamvong folk dance, and various New Year celebration songs. They tied threads on the guest’s wrist while offering prosperous wishes. Ancient festivities such as splashing water, eating traditional food and tying threads on each other’s wrists were also carried out. These activities are believed to bring luck and prosperity to participants.
