Dong Nai-based Lac Hong University defended its championship title successfully when LH - CACTUS 2 from the university defeated BK - SPIRIT of the Da Nang University of Technology at Robocon Vietnam 2012 held at the Military Zone 7 Sports House, Ho Chi Minh City on May 13. LH - CACTUS 2 will represent Vietnam at the ABU Asia-Pacific Robot Contest 2012 to be held in Hong Kong, China in August.
This year, there were 15 teams from Lac Hong University participating in the regional qualifying round of Robocon Vietnam 2012 contest and 12 of them entered the national final competition. 10 teams from the university dominate the round of 1/ 16 and 5 of them (LH - CACTUS 1, LH - CACTUS 2, LH - ZO 2T, LH - TNT and LH – KING OMEGA entered the round of 8. Then LH - CACTUS 2 won over its rivals to enter the final match. Lac Hong University won absolute victory and defended its title for the third time.
In addition, the university’s team (LH - CACTUS 2) has also been honored with an award from the contest’s sponsor Toyota and US$ 1,000. Lac Hong University also won the third prize (LH-CACTUS 1) and got extra prizes including Best Idea Award (LH - King Omega), Best Automatic Machine (LH - Z0 2T), Best Technology (LH – TNT) and the second prize at Robocon Tech Show 2012 with the product - robot controlled by gestures and voices.
This is the third year that the Lac Hong University won the champion title at Vietnam Robocon and is the representative for Vietnam in the 11th ABU Asia-Pacific Robot Contest 2012 which will be held in Hong Kong, China in August. Last year, LH-B7 of Lac Hong University competed in the 2011 Asia-Pacific Robocon contest held in Bangkok, Thailand and took third place in the completion.
