From November 7 to 17, 2102, the 1st National Tour Guide Contest was held successfully in Vung Tau city by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. The competition brought together 81 candidates (including 31 males and 50 females) coming from 27 colleges and universities nationwide. The contest also saw the great participation of tourist guide training schools directly under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism such as Ha Noi University of Culture, Ha Noi Tourism College, Hai Phong Vocational College of Tourism, Vung Tau Vocational College of Tourism, … and other prestigious universities. The contest consisted of qualifying and final parts. The qualifying round included theory, presentation and language test with total score 170. The final round included presentation based on tourist lines, aptitude test, eloquence, and answering questions asked the Jury with total score 200.
Representing Lac Hong University to participate in the contest was three students Tran Van Tuan, Nguyen Thi Minh Phuong and Nguyen Thi Huong who are senior students of Vietnamese Studies (Faculty of Oriental Studies).

Through 7 days of the contest, students of Lac Hong has achieved remarkable results. Particularly, Nguyen Thi Minh Phuong achieved 138/ 170 scores, ranking 17/ 81 contestants. Tran Van Tuan got 136.5/ 170 scores, ranking 19/ 81. Both of them advanced to the final round. Nguyen Thi Huong got 120.6/ 170, ranking 40/ 81. Although the results were humble, they have made a strong impression on other contestants. The contest provided a good opportunity for students to learn valuable lessons and experience in tourist guidance. Hopefully, students of Vietnamese Studies will try to gain more achievements in next contests.
