LHU opens Stem-focused Englishworks! 2024 program

The Faculty of English Language, LHU on May 24, 2024 hosted an Opening Ceremony of the Career English Program, known as Stem-focused Englishworks! 2024 at the Co-working Space, Campus 2.

The event was attended by Mr. Nguyen Tan Hung - Deputy Director of SEAMEO RETRAC (SEAMEO Regional Training Center); LHU's side including Dr. Nguyen Thi Thu Lan - Vice Rector, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Thanh Lam - Vice Rector, Mr. Le Duc Thinh - Dean of the Faculty of English, representatives of faculties, along with lecturers and 30 students accepted for Stem-focused Englishworks! program.

In her opening remarks, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Lan highlighted the importance of English in the new era, and sent heartfelt thanks to SEAMEO RETRAC for trusting and supporting LHU in this project, thereby opening up opportunities for future cooperation between the two sides.

The Stem-focused Englishworks! program is jointly organized by the SEAMEO RETRAC, the Regional English Language Office (RELO) and the U.S. Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City, aiming at difficult young people majoring in Engineering. Partner units are responsible for recruiting students and ensuring some criteria. Admitted students will be fully funded with tuition and learning materials.

The project aims to enhance young people's English language skills for start-up or job-search processes with a focus on STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics). Additionally, EnglishWorks! focuses on developing learners' leadership and critical thinking skills.

This is also an educational cooperation program, contributing to improving young laborers' capacity, mainly in engineering, science and semiconductor technology in the context of rapid development of digital transformation, AI, semiconductor technology and high technology.

Each class has only 30 students, and each lasting from 6 months to 1 year depending on the unit.
