Đồng hành với mục tiêu đào tạo, Khoa Cơ Điện còn mở rộng tìm hiểu các chuyên ngành mới như Cơ Sinh Học, Năng Lượng Mới, Khuôn Mẫu ở cấp độ vi mô (Micro),… Việc tạo điều kiện cho đội ngũ giảng viên đi đào tạo ở nước ngoài cũng đã khơi nguồn và đặt các nền tảng cơ bản để khoa có thể chuyên sâu nghiên cứu phát triển các ngành nói trên trong những năm sắp tới. Trong quá trình học tập - nghiên ở nước ngoài, các giảng viên của khoa Cơ Điện đã trực tiếp tham gia vào các hội nghị chuyên ngành quốc tế có uy tín và xuất bản các bài báo khoa học với chất lượng cao.
