01. Tên bài báo: Production of high-concentration bioethanol from cassava stem by repeated hydrolysis and intermittent yeast inoculation

- ABSTRACT: Methods for obtaining high-concentration (ca. 40 g/L) ethanol from cassava stem (CS) were explored by investigating the effects of acid hydrolysis conditions, hydrolysate concentration, and intermittent inoculation of yeast on ethanol fermentation. Two-step acid hydrolysis demonstrated that a reduction in autoclaving temperature from 121 °C to 111 °C remarkably lowered the furfural concentration in the hydrolysate, with only ± 10% differences in the glucose and xylose concentrations. For the concentration of sugars in the CS hydrolysate, the acid hydrolysate prepared with CS concentration of 200 g/L was used instead of distilled water for the second step of acid hydrolysis using new CS biomass (i.e., two-times acid hydrolysis). This produced a concentrated hydrolysate containing 95 g/L of glucose and 0.95 g/L furfural. Saccharomyces cerevisiae strain IAM 4178 was inoculated into the concentrated CS hydrolysate after verifying its furfural tolerance. Furfural was rapidly degraded and glucose was converted to ethanol during the startup period,
whereas cell density decreased to approximately 10% of the initial value and ethanol production ceased by 72 h. IAM 4178 was then re-inoculated intermittently to maintain the cell density at 108 cells/mL, which eventually resulted in the complete uptake of glucose and the production of high concentrations of ethanol, up to 37.5 g/L.

- ABSTRACT: In this work, a-MnO2 and g-MnO2 nanomaterials are used to remove methylene blue (MB) from aqueous solution. Factors affecting the adsorption of MB on both materials are investigated, such as pH, adsorption time, and initial concentration of MB. The maximum adsorption of MB is obtained at pH = 8 after 80 min for g-MnO2 and pH = 9 after 150 min for a-MnO2. Adsorption isotherm studies show that the adsorption monolayer capacity calculated from Langmuir models of g-MnO2 is higher than a-MnO 2 nanomaterial. Energy values calculated from Temkin and Dubinin–Radushkevich show that the uptake of MB on both a- and g-MnO2 materials is a physical process. Kinetic studies propose that the adsorption of MB on both a- and g-MnO2 materials follows the pseudo-second-order models. The results suggest that g-MnO2 nanomaterial can be used as an effective, low-cost adsorbent for the removal of MB from aqueous solution.

- ABSTRACT: Haldane equation is a mathematical expression that has been widely used in growth kinetics to give a proper fit to experimental data in case of substrate inhibition during enzymatic processes. It determines the specific growth rate of a microorganism based on the substrate concentration, the half saturation constant, the inhibitory constant and the maximum growth rate achievable. However, for practical and experimental design purposes it is important to describe Haldane equation in terms of the initial concentration of substrate, since this information is required to know the proper amount of initial substrate to be used. For this reason, in the present paper we proposed to integrate the expression of yield factor and the definition of specific growth rate in a batch system into Haldane’s equation and to solve analytically the mathematical equations in order to obtain a final expression that correlates the maximum growth rate, the limiting nutrient concentration at which the specific growth is half its maximum value, the inhibitory constant, the initial concentration of substrate and the initial amount of biomass required in time. Accordingly, simulation and numerical studies are presented to analyze and discuss the importance of the obtained model.

- ABSTRACT: The process of inhibition of enzymes is important because it serves as a fundamental control mechanism in many biological systems and allows the regulation of metabolic pathways. In fact, many medications act by inhibiting specific enzymes in the brain or in body tissues. Therefore, the understanding of enzymatic inhibition mechanism is, essential. Inhibitors are frequently used as tools for the study of the mechanism of the enzymes themselves. In the present paper we have studied the process of substrate inhibition by developing a mathematical model that allow us to understand the influence of initial amount of substrate and initial biomass concentration on maximum growth rate value. Numerical analysis using Matlab software was performed to model this inhibition process.

- ABSTRACT: Since the first report in early 1990s, mesoporous silica nanoparticles (MSNs) have progressively attracted the attention of scientists due to their potential applications in physic, energy storage, imaging, and especially in biomedical engineering. Owning the unique physiochemical properties, such as highly porosity, large surface area and pore volume, functionalizable, tunable pore and particle sizes and biocompatibility, and high loading cavity, MSNs offer efficient encapsulation and then controlled release, and in some cases, intracellular delivery of bioactive molecules for biomedical applications. During the last decade, functionalized MSNs that show respond upon the surrounding stimulus changes, such as temperature, pH, redox, light, ultrasound, magnetic or electric fields, enzyme, redox, ROS, glucose, and ATP, or their combinations, have continuously revolutionized their potential applications in biomedical engineering. Therefore, this review focuses on discussion the recent fabrication of functionalized MSNs and their potential applications in drug delivery, therapeutic treatments, diagnostic imaging, and biocatalyst. In addition, some potential clinical applications and challenges will also be discussed.

- ABSTRACT: The present research examines the impact of competition on noninterest income of 27 joint stock commercial banks in Vietnam in 2010-2017. Generalized least squares regression is used, and the results suggest that competition, HHI and bank assets have positive relationship with non-interest income. Based on these results, implications are that bank managers should employ technologies to decrease costs, boost competitiveness and non-interest income for Vietnamese joint stock commercial banks. In addition, supervisory agencies need to replace their regulatory approach.

- ABSTRACT: Due to the severe competition on the market nowadays, business organizations are paying more and more attention to get to know what factors affect the buying-decisions of their customers and their expectations to serve them better. A similar problem also exists in the beer industry. Therefore, this paper aims at identifying the determinants in choosing a favorite beer of Vietnamese consumers so that relevant companies can have proper strategies to improve their performance for better competitive advantage. By using exploratory factor analysis for data collected from official survey of 2,318 customers, we suggest beer companies pay special attention to 4 key perspectives, including: (1) improving beer quality, (2) developing their brand and distribution channel, (3) paying attention to the information provided through their advertisements, informative labeling, easy usage and storage; and (4) providing presentable packaging, promotions, and prices. These are found as the basic requirements affecting the decisions of Vietnamese consumers in choosing their favorite beer. Some managerial implications proposed in this study should be seriously
considered and implemented in operational practice.

- ABSTRACT: Learning motive, motivation, and their relationships to study results have been interesting research topics attracting the special interest of numerous scholars in searching for appropriate educating and training approaches for students to well satisfy the requirements and demand of labor marketplace. By clarifying the different connotations between two terms “motive” and “motivation”, this paper focuses on identifying the determinants of learning motivation of students in engineering majors. In an empirical case in Dong Nai province, Vietnam, seven key determinants are found, including (1) Social environment; (2) Family and friends; (3) Learning environment; (4) Personal perception; (5) Personal ambitions; (6) Living viewpoint; and (7) Living location. The finding sets a sound foundation for rational proposals towards academic faculty, education institution, students and their families to enhance students’ learning motivation.

- ABSTRACT: This paper presents a fuzzy c-means clustering interval type-2 cerebellar model articulation neural network (FCM-IT2CMANN) method to help physicians improve diagnostic accuracy. The proposed method combines two classifiers, in which the IT2CMANN is the primary classifier and the fuzzy c-means algorithm is the pre-classifier. First, the data are divided into nc groups using the pre-classifier, and then, the main classifier is applied to determine whether the sample is in a healthy or diseased state. Implementing the gradient descent method, the adaptive laws for updating the FCM-IT2CMANN parameters are derived. Furthermore, the system convergence is proven by the Lyapunov stability theory. Finally, the classification of breast cancer and liver disease datasets from the University of California at Irvine is conducted to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed classifier.

- ABSTRACT: This paper presents a design of a self-organizing recurrent interval type-2 Petri fuzzy controller (SORIT2PFC) for controlling the time-varying delay systems. The control system comprises of a main controller and a compensation controller; the SORIT2PFC as the main controller is used to imitate an ideal controller, and the simple fuzzy compensator controller is used to eliminate the residual error. By using a self-organizing algorithm, the structure of the proposed network can automatically achieve optimal construction. Recurrent neural network and fuzzy Petri nets are applied to improve system performances and to reduce computational burden. Online tune adaptive laws of the proposed controller are derived by implementing the gradient descent method and the Lyapunov stability theorem. Finally, the control efficacy and effectiveness of the proposed controller are verified by the numerical simulations of the time-varying delay systems.

- ABSTRACT: This paper aims to design a self-evolving function-link type-2 fuzzy neural network for application in controlling antilock braking systems. In this control scheme, the self-evolving algorithm is applied to autonomously construct the control network without an initial rule-base. The function-link is designed to give the interval type-2 fuzzy neural network has more freedom in adjusting the parameters. Based on the steepest descent gradient method and the Lyapunov theory, the adaptive
laws for the proposed system are derived, and the control system stability is guaranteed. Further, to rapidly achieve the desired control performance, an online particle swarm optimization algorithm is used to optimize the learning rates for the parameter adaptive laws. The performance of the control system is assessed via multiple simulation results of the antilock braking system response under various road conditions

- ABSTRACT: This study proposes a fuzzy Cerebellar Model Articulation Controller (CMAC) using a dynamic Technique for Order of Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) technique for dealing with the metallic sphere position control of a magnetic levitation system (MLS). The proposed Dynamic TOPSIS Fuzzy CMAC (DTFCMAC) incorporates a multicriteria decision analysis with a fuzzy structure to decrease the computational load for parameter learning and to enhance the fuzzy reasoning inference for a CMAC. The Shannon entropy index is used to derive the objective weights for the evaluation criterion. By combining entropy weight and TOPSIS, the optimal threshold value for suitable firing nodes is determined automatically and easily. In the proposed method, the dynamic back-propagation algorithm is applied to train the proposed DTFCMAC online. Moreover, to guarantee the convergence of output tracking error for periodic command tracking, analytical methods developed from a discrete-type Lyapunov function are used to determine the optimal learning-rate parameters for the proposed DTFCMAC. The proposed DTFCMAC is applied to the MLS, and its performance is verified through simulations and experiments. Our findings indicate that the proposed DTFCMAC control system achieves stability and desired control performance for the MLS.

- ABSTRACT: Consumers’ interactions with a brand; via buying, receiving or consuming new products
and services; will gradually develop the brand experiences. Because of its importance, marketers and
businesses have express a great emphasis on brand experience, since it is a factor that lead to another more essential and core factor of a brand–customer relationship: brand loyalty. To clarify and examine the relationship between brand experience and brand loyalty both directly and indirectly through other factors, this research is conducted. Other factors that have their impact on this relationship are brand personality, brand trust and brand satisfaction. On the other hand, in order to provide a broad view over the relationship of brand experience and brand loyalty, the model of this research was adopted and restructured based on previous studies. The Smartphone industry was chosen for this study and the target sample was also selected accordingly in order to provide accurate responds. Quantitative method was applied for this research. The result of this research proved that there exists a positive relationship between brand experience and brand loyalty; directly and indirectly through other factors such as Brand Personality, Brand Trust and Brand Satisfaction. Based on the results, marketers should focus on enhancing their customers’ experiences; besides improving customers’ satisfaction and matching the brands’ personalities with their target customers’ in order to gain their trust. All of these efforts would contribute into building a strong brand loyalty.

- ABSTRACT: Export contributes to a large extent to economic growth of an island-type economylikeTaiwan. The scientific forecasting on the total value of imports and exports of top traded commodities in Taiwan are needed as the essential inputs to determine whether new top traded commodities should be imported or exported, and to make right decision toward activities in various functional areas such as building new container terminals, operation plans, marketing strategies, as well as finance and accounting [1]. Taking the original data of the amount of import and export commodity during the years from 2007 to 2013, the author tries to establish a mathematical model of Grey forecasting to make a prediction of the total value of imports and exports of top commodities in Taiwan for the next 05 coming years from 2014 to 2018.The analysis results show that the usage of Grey forecasting models resulted in a very low mean absolute percentage error, which demonstrate its applicability in practice to provide accurate forecasts. This research also indicates that for the future period of time (2014-2017), there will be a steady increase in both exports and imports value of all top commodities. The current study may offer a good idea for the control and scheduling for the terminal operators in decision making and planning.

- ABSTRACT: Financial organizations have been globally studied, but few of these studies have examined the strategies used by banks in Vietnam for making decisions regarding bank rankings. This research is objective to explore and to demonstrate utility of Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) application in banking for the purpose of proposing a suitable model for partners evaluation and selecting banking strategic alliances in Vietnam. The AHP is applied to examine what criteria should be encompassed in evaluating and examining the importance weightings of influential criteria when ranking the bank system. After a long process of calculation based on AHP, the author has come up with the final rankings according expert’s interview: ACB’s percentages have change widely from each
sub-criterion. By this thesis, author would contribute to the ranking process of the banking system, in general, and the special case of Vietnamese banking a very modern model to apply, then to choose the right alliance for further cooperation, not only for banking system but it can be applied for a lot of industries.

- ABSTRACT: In Taiwan, the number of Vietnamese people living, working and studying is huge. Their demands for eating in restaurants are also enormous. In this study, the author will focus on the Service Loyalty Relationship Study in Retaining Customers: An Empirical Study of Vietnamese Restaurants in Kaohsiung City through questionnaires surveys were collected from more than 220 customers. After doing surveys and testing these values, this study can conclude that all the independent variables can be applied in the research model in order to explain loyalty trend towards the restaurant. Moreover, the study results also particularly emphasized the impact of the hygiene factor. Generally, customer loyalty may cause by a manager who has a deep knowledge about restaurant services and has ability to handle problems flexibly. Besides, customers are also impressed by the appearance of the staff. Through the behavioural details and the pictures of staff, customers would have their own judgment about the operating style, organizational culture so that they can appreciate the service quality, forming their loyalty trends as they are served at a high level.

22. Tên bài báo: Application of Grey system Theory and ARIMA model to forecast factors of tourism: A case of Binh Thuan province in Vietnam

- ABSTRACT: Tourism is more and more popular, and this industry continues to develop strongly around the world. Thus, forecasting tourism demand plays an important role in development. In this study, the purpose is to provide some appropriate models for predicting the demand of tourism in Binh Thuan Province in Vietnam. There are five models applied in this study, namely GM (1, 1), DGM (1, 1), DGM (2, 1), Verhulst and ARIMA; the authors try to test these models to find which concise and accurate forecasting models being able to predict the best result about the tourism demand. So as to ensure the precision, the authors collected data of total revenue, domestic visitor, international tourists and top six countries having the biggest numbers of visitors (Russia, Germany, France, Korea, China and USA) in ten years (between 2008 to 2017) from Binh Thuan Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism. We apply MAPE, MSE, RMSE and MAD to compare the forecasting models results. As a result, GM (1, 1), DGM (1, 1), Verhulst and ARIMA augment excellent results and minimum forecasted errors. In terms of total revenue, ARIMA is the best choice for prediction. About the domestic visitors and international tourists, GM (1, 1), DGM (1, 1) and Verhust give the better
calculation than the other models. Besides, the performance of GM (1, 1), DGM (1, 1), Verhulst and ARIMA to forecast the number of visitors of top six markets (Russia, Germany, France, Korea, China and USA) sending the largest number of tourists describes good results. For all the factors, DGM (2, 1) is rejected to predict due to the poor results. Moreover, recently, tourism industry has developed rapidly in Binh Thuan. Hence, the government has to propose suitable policies to develop local tourism industry.

- ABSTRACT: The development of tourist accommodation sector significantly contributes to the overall growth of tourism. The need for accurate predicting the demand for tourist accommodation of international and domestic tourists is a key goal for future good preparation and appropriate strategy. The objective of this study is to show some Grey forecasting models involving GM (1, 1), Verhulst, DGM (1, 1) and ARIMA models consist of ARIMA (0, 1, 1)for projection of future number of domestic and international visitors serviced by tourist accommodation establishments in Lam Dong province. The author of this study applies four essential criteria Mean absolute percentage error (MAPE), Mean absolute deviation (MAD), Mean square error (MSE), Root mean square error (RMSE) to compare the various forecasting models outcomes and to examine which suitable forecasting models can improve the capability to project the number of future international and domestic tourists served by tourist accommodations in Lam Dong province. The monthly statistics of number tourists serviced of tourist accommodation and total revenue from tourist accommodation service in Lam Dong province covering in the period from January, 2012 to October, 2018 are obtained from official website of General Statistics Office of Lam Dong province and statistical yearbook of Lam Dong in order to guarantee the accuracy of forecasting procedure. The key findings of this study that ARIMA (1, 1, 1) (1, 1, 1) model can effectively predict the number of domestic tourists with more accurate outcomes with minimum predicted errors. Besides that, the number of international visitors serviced by tourist accommodation can be obtained more accurately by using ARIMA (1, 1, 1) (1, 1, 1) model. In the case of total revenue from tourist accommodation service in Lam Dong province, ARIMA (0, 1, 1) (0, 1, 1), GM (1, 1), DGM (1, 1) models have better performance than Verhulst model. The forecasting results also showed the number of international and domestic tourists serviced by tourist accommodation in Lam Dong is growth slightly. Therefore, Lam Dong Authority must make good preparation and appropriate strategies to response exactly at any changes and supply for tourist accommodation markets.
